Georgia in 7 Days: A Tbilisi and Kazbegi Itinerary

This suggested week uses two bases and assumes arrival and departure through Tbilisi. It is a framework, not a fixed tour: adjust it to flight times, road conditions and the pace of your travelling group.

Day 1: arrive and settle into Tbilisi

Keep the first day light. Transfer to your accommodation, check in and take a short walk near the hotel if time allows. Save a major paid visit for a full day rather than relying on an arrival flight being on time.

Days 2–3: two different city days

Spend one day around the old town and river, and another around Rustaveli with a museum or gallery that interests you. Add meals and breaks to the plan. If you want an excursion beyond the city, substitute it for part of a day instead of adding it to an already full schedule.

Day 4: travel to Stepantsminda

Treat the transfer as the main activity. Agree any stops and their duration beforehand, then leave time to settle into the new accommodation. Pack an overnight bag so you can reach essentials without unpacking everything. Recheck the next day’s plan locally.

Day 5: choose the mountain outing

Make Gergeti or another locally suitable outing the main plan, with a shorter alternative if conditions are poor. Choose walking or vehicle arrangements according to the group. The aim is a day you can enjoy, not a list of viewpoints that leaves no room for weather or rest.

Day 6: return and keep a buffer

Return to Tbilisi with flexibility in the timing and spend the night there. Avoid placing an essential timed attraction immediately after the drive. If you arrive early, use the spare time for the city area or meal you missed at the start.

Day 7: leave according to your flight

Plan the airport journey around the departure time and the airline’s arrival guidance. A morning flight may leave no sightseeing time; an evening flight may allow a nearby outing after arranging luggage storage. With a late arrival on day one, shorten the plan rather than pretending it contains seven full sightseeing days.

Common questions

How many nights does this week need?
The outline assumes six nights: three in Tbilisi, two in Stepantsminda and a final night in Tbilisi. Change the allocation to fit your flight dates.
Can I add Batumi to the same seven days?
That creates a different, more transfer-heavy route. If the coast is important, replace part of the itinerary or allow more days rather than treating it as a small extra.
Is the mountain day guaranteed to operate?
No. Adapt the activity to current local access and conditions. The itinerary deliberately includes flexibility and a return buffer.
