Vietnam in 7 Days: Hanoi and Hoi An with a Da Nang Connection

This six-night outline begins in Hanoi and ends in the Da Nang area after a Hoi An stay. It assumes a suitable onward flight from there. If your international ticket leaves from Hanoi or another city, revise the final journey and night before committing to the full schedule.

Day 1: arrive in Hanoi

Confirm the hotel and transfer, then keep the first outing nearby. A meal, a café or a short walk may be enough after the flight. Leave the main cultural visit for a full day rather than reserving an entry that depends on immediate airport clearance.

Days 2–3: old streets and a cultural day

Use one day for the Old Quarter and lake area and another for a selected heritage visit or different city interest. Include food and breaks. An excursion outside Hanoi would replace some of this time; it is not an extra that leaves both city days intact.

Day 4: fly to Da Nang and continue to Hoi An

Check the actual flight, baggage and airport details, and arrange the road journey to the hotel. Keep the afternoon adaptable to arrival. Avoid a boat departure, fitting or timed attraction that relies on every part of the transfer being immediate.

Day 5: explore Hoi An’s ancient town

Choose a coherent walk and one heritage interior if you want it, with a meal and time around the river. Check current visitor arrangements. An evening return to the same area can feel different, so there is no need to rush through every street on the first circuit.

Day 6: choose the slower day you want

Use a beach visit, countryside outing, craft activity or another local interest according to conditions. These are alternatives, not a list to complete in one day. Confirm any arranged activity and keep the final evening compatible with packing and the onward journey.

Day 7: depart through the actual gateway

For a suitable Da Nang departure, include the road transfer and airline arrival guidance. If you need to reposition to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, build that leg explicitly and consider moving the last night. A suggested itinerary does not protect separate flight connections.

Can I add an overnight bay cruise without changing the plan?
It uses a night and travel time. Replace part of the route or extend the visit instead of adding it between full city days.
What if my flight home leaves from Hanoi?
Add the return connection explicitly and revise the final night or city time. Do not assume the Da Nang ending fits a Hanoi ticket.
